As a blogger, your email list is so important. It gives you the chance to build a stronger relationship with your audience while you send out updates about your blog. Your email list will also help you drive traffic back to your blog, increase your conversion rates, promote upcoming events, plus so much more.

If you’re just starting to grow your email list, MailChimp is an amazing email marketing platform. When you’re using MailChimp, you can automatically send out welcome emails to your new subscribers, create an email series, and schedule emails for a future date. You can even become more strategic by tracking your open and click through rates along with the number of people who unsubscribed to find out which emails are the most effective. Now it’s time to create your very first email through MailChimp. Follow the instructions below to help you get started.

Step 1.The first thing you’re going to do is head over to your MailChimp account and click on “Campaigns” and then “Create Campaign”.

Step 2. Click on the “Select” button at the top (next to “Regular Campaign”).

Step 3. Now it’s time to enter your campaign info. Enter the name of your campaign, the email subject, your name, and your email address. Once you’re finished click “Next” on the bottom right.

Step 4. Click “Select” on the first template.

Step 5. Now we can start putting the email together. On the very top, click on the first block where it says “Use this area to offer a short preview of your email’s content”.

Step 6. Add a little snippet to explain what your email is about and click “Save & Close”.

Step 7. Now it’s time to upload your logo. Scroll over the second block and click “Browse”.

Step 8. Click “upload” on the top right-hand side and choose the image you want to use.

Step 9. If the image is too big, MailChimp will let you know. Click on “Let’s Fix It”.

Step 10. MailChimp will automatically resize your image. All you have to do is click “Apply”.

Step 11. And then “Save”.

Step 12. Check to make sure your image looks okay and click “Save & Close”.

Step 13. Now click on the third block to start writing your email.

Step 14. I always like to make my emails a little more personal by adding in the name of each subscriber. To include their name, click on “Merge Tags” and then “First Name”.

Step 15. Once you’ve finished writing the body of your email, click “Save & Close”.

Step 16. I also love adding images to my emails. If your email only has text it can get a little boring. To add an image, all you have to do is drag and drop the image button into the email.

Step 17. Next, click on “Browse” and choose an image.

Step 18. Once your image has uploaded, click “Save & Close”.

Step 19. Now let’s add another text block to wrap up the email. Drag and drop the “Text” button under your image.

Step 20. This is where I finish writing my email and add my signature. It’s also the perfect place to add a call to action asking your subscribers to click on the social media buttons below. Once you’re done, click “Save & Close”.

Step 21. Now let’s edit the social media buttons. I always like to use the “Social Share” instead of the “Social Follow” buttons. To make the switch, click on the little trashcan icon.

Step 22. Once the “Social Follow” block has been deleted, drag and drop the “Social Share” button into the email.

Step 23. Next, click on “Campaign’s Archive URL” and then “Custom URL”.

Step 24. Now you can choose what your readers can share. Include a link to your blog, a sales page, or really whatever you want. And then add in a short description.

Step 25. Once you’re done, scroll to the bottom to add additional social media accounts.

Step 26. You can choose between Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, plus more. When you’re finished, click “Save & Close”.

Step 27. The only thing we have left to do is edit the bottom of your email. This usually includes your blog’s name, URL, business address, and an option to unsubscribe from your email list. Once it’s updated, click “Save & Close”.

Step 28. You’re ready to send your email! Click “Next” on the bottom right-hand side.

Step 29. Make sure everything looks okay and click “Send”.

Step 30. A sweaty chimp arm will appear (which is always a little freaky). Now all you have to do is click “Send” and you’re done!
